these are a few of my favorite things; a little cultivated garden.

my charities:

  • Colorado Public Radio, for CPR Classical.
    • I am a proud evergreen member of CPR Classical. I grew up listening to this radio station, from my 90's bedroom through to my turbulent twenties– CPR Classical has always been there for me, and I am glad to be there for them. Particularly after the public funding cuts in 2025.
    • Not in Colorado? This station is still available online, through their browser or via their CPR mobile application.
  • Wikimedia Foundation, for Wikipedia.
    • As my fellow Wikipedians joke, "The problem with Wikipedia is that it only works in practice. In theory, it can never work." It's up to us to make this impossible thing work, and to guard it!
  • Saving Wildcats, for Wildcat Conservation in Scotland.
    • I love cats. Rewilding is an interest of mine, and I am passionate about safeguarding rare cat species around the world.
  • Denver Botanic Gardens, for botanics, art, and education.
    • I have been an annual member of the gardens every year I have lived in Denver– I love its art and botanical programming, and find true peace in the gardens and art galleries there.

my memberships:

  • The Society of Authors. May 2026 - Present
    • A British trade union of authors supporting each other, navigating publishing, tax advice, and even liability insurance. They direct the estates of some legendary writers, including Virginia Woolf, and publish a quarterly magazine, "The Author".
    • Human Authored is a way to designate your work as free of AI, and was launched by The Society of Authors in the UK, and the Authors Guild in the US. I support their campaigns protecting writers from AI theft, and am proud to be a member!

  • The World Clown Association. 2016 - 2019
    • As a retired ex-clown, my clown license is expired. But if you are a practicing clown, it is always important to join your local clown union, as clowning around is serious business. That said, they send the most horrifying magazines. I was a member during my fairy princessing years, as clown insurance covers most everything a fairy could need as well (and street fairies need liability insurance, let me tell you).
